Mmmmmm Fire!
Friday free day. I spent the whole of it between Metal shop and the Mouldmaking studio. Working on my Two part urethane Blanket Mould, and the metal table.
There’s something therapeutic about flames, sparks, loud heavy equipment and angry music (Anti-Flag was today’s selection).
The day ended when I mistakenly flipped one of the red-hot pipes the wrong direction.
- That would be the direction that leads into my arm.
Have no fear though the nice sound it made on contact alerted me to react and move it away from the smoking flesh.
I’ve always felt scars say a lot more than tattoos. And they’re free too. :)

So, metal shop and Two main projects to do. One warm up, one main. So What am I doing for the warm up? I’m no designer, but we need an extra table for the kitchen, and we also need somewhere for the recycling stuff.
Thus, this monster was born. Inspired by Ikea / The 70’s / and my Insanity. I have 2 weeks to complete the real thing.
This is the scale Computer generated model I made; hopefully the real thing will look just as good. Damn computers.
Today I went to see the work of Paul Brandejs, a Canadian artist and my Uncle! His stuff was great and he’s a really nice guy, and he’s a graduate of OCA(D).
He makes his own canvasses so he throws a lot more creativity into it. The canvasses are 3-dimensional and push out of the wall. I’ve never seen sculpted paintings before and I was really impressed. I’ve seen photos of his work before, but never in person so I was glad he invited me to his showing. Deffenetly not something you see every day.
Hmmmm, what else. Last night went to the Brunny (Brunswick) to drink and celebrate a big Ukranian holiday. Hyvää. Saw some old friends.
Also finished my first week of school. Looks like it will be fun. The height is my required course with Doug back. It was spossed to be a course on flash and director, which I wasn’t too excited about as I really don’t like computers so much right now,…. But Doug’s teaching it.
Which basically means we’re not doing flash.
We’re learning how to program microchips and build other electronic devices. :) I love Doug.
One confused looking girl in the back of the class asked if we'd learn flash, and Doug just smiled and said, “you can learn it on your own if you want...”
Then she said “but it's in the course outline for this class…?”
Doug 'where?'
Girl "the syllabus"
Doug "welllll, I didn't write that..... so we're going to learn programming."
Doug’s great. And I wanted to learn that anyways. I can teach myself flash I’d rather learn something cooler.

Got some of my Smartmedia cards working again. I used my old MP3 player to reformat them. Yes the good old Rio PMP300. Many people complained about the fact that it reformats the cards into a different format than a standard computer. But not me. It allows the Rio to have direct access to many parts of the memory card no other device can match. Thus, no card reader was able to fix my camera cards, but the Rio fixed 3x 32mb cards in 5 minutes. Hyvää.

It snowed!!!!! It’s been raining for a while, and now there’s actually snow. I’m so impressed. If there’s one thing I hated it was getting on the plane in Helsinki, with snow all around me, and then getting off the plane in London England and seeing no snow at all. Same in Toronto.
Then there was rain but a few days before Christmas.. But now the snows back and I’m happy.

"That was when I realized. I asked myself could some of what these people be talking about actually be dangerous? And the best thing I can do is stay close to them, track what they are interested in and either hack it or try to confuse the spaces in which they operate". - Rob Van Kranenburg
